Well, not really an Alembic event but Bass Day UK is now less than a month away. It's a fantastic one day event aimed at bass players of all styles and standards with on stage performances from some of the worlds top players. In the past we've had the likes of TM stevens, Jan-olof strandberg (JOS on this forum), hadrien Feraud, Trip walmsley and jeff Berlin, and this year, the line up is just as stellar including Nathan East, Adam Nitti and Poogie Bell and many more, not to mention the extensive retail area and the chance to take part in clinics. As usual, I'll be travelling down from edinburgh with Mike Pisanek (fellow forumite) and will no doubt be bumping into other regular attendees like shaun (bigbadbill). It would be really great to meet other UK based alembic payers so if anyone is planning to go, post on here and we can try to figure out some way of recognising each other. Graeme p.s. I'm in no way affiliated with the organisers - it's just that it's such a great day out I think it should be shared ;-) p.p.s. If there are any other Edinburgh/east-central scottish members wanting to go, I have space in the car. |

Do you carry a bass with you when you go or just check out the stuff that's there. Jazzyvee |

I've never taken an instrument Jazzy. Some people do, especially if they've booked onto one of the clinics or if they are going to be trying out an amp. Mike and I just go down for the craik (as the irish would say) although we have tried out the various instruments on display. Bernie Goodfellow (of GB) and Chris May (of overwater) are good to chat to and are always happy to let anyone play their instruments. (In fact, if I wasn't an alembic devotee, I'd be talking to Chris about his basses, - they're THAT good). You planning on going? Graeme |

Graeme, is this event about the same time every year? Do you go and return on the same day or spend a night? I can't make it this year but maybe in the near future given enough planning. Sam |

Pretty much Sam. This year is a week later than usual but 2nd or 3rd weekend in November is the norm. 2006 and 2007 we made a trip of it. 2006 we took wives and went on the train. Came back monday morning. 2007 I was meant to make a weekend of it with mike but he took ill at the last minute so I went down myself (again on the train). Every other year I've driven down and back in the day. leaving Edinburgh at 6am sunday and getting back in the early hours of Monday morning. If you were coming over I'd make a weekend of it. There's plenty for the ladies to do in Manchester while we're at the event;-) Graeme |

Yep loads for the ladies to do especially if you send them down to Salford Quays to do some retail therapy with your credit card... That way you won't go mad on GAS..... hahaha I've not decided whether to go or not yet. Jazzyvee |

Just a reminder that Bass Day is this sunday from 12 at the royal northern college of music in Manchester. If anyone is there and sees me, say hi. Graeme |
