Last Sunday, 4/18/10, a few of us in R.I. took part in a benefit for our friend, Johnny Mac, who needed some unexpected surgery. We had a fine day at Bovi's Town Tavern,(Heartfelt thanks to all concerned at Bovi's). John has been doing sound work for many bands, theaters, and clubs since the '70's. These are a couple of pix of me and my Essence. I also have a couple of great pix of my old friend Ken C. with our 2 Series I's, my '76 and his'77. I could use, a little help resizing, are you out there Art?

Art, I will be buried with my Series, but, I just love the sound of my Essence. I got a lot of great comments on its place in the mix.
John is much better. He just started a new sound gig in Pa. with a theater group, full time gig with health benefits. We are all very happy for him and glad we could help.

Good job on working for a benefit cause! Best wishes to your friend John. Those are beautiful Series instruments. I'd say you got the image sizing thing down!
The Essence is really striking. Is that cocobolo?

Mike, no the Essence top is Bocate, a very beautiful and figured wood. A better pic is in the Showcase Section.

Alembic truely knows how to do it.
Thanks Wolf, you know it.

Kenn - great pics all of the basses are beautiful.
Tell me about your rig - is that an 800RB with 2x10 Hartke and something more?

I run an 800RB into the Hartke 2x10 and a Mesa 1x15.

Paul, I believe it was a 4-10 Hartke, I think you are right about the head. The backline and the sound were donated for the event. The stage is somewhat small for multiple acts. My regular set-up is a 2x10 Acme, Crown power and my trusty F-2B. I have to say that it sounded very good, GK gear has always had a good rep.

Keavin, I believe that they are both 34" scale. The only construction difference between the two is that his has 2 truss rods, mine has only 1.

It might be the camera angle, but your scale looks smaller...

Mike, yes that was me, were you there? I was more than just a little "star struck". I would have been the guy with the glazed over eyes. The hair was a slightly different color back then.
