After several failed attempts to put a band together via CraigsList, I had all but given-up on the idea. About a month ago I was contacted by the organizer for a local charity event (called "Doc Rock"... a benefit show put on by several local "physician" bands) and asked if I could sit-in with one of the bands (their bass player couldn't do the gig). Rehearsals have gone well and we've decided to make it a permanent thing. Anyway... the gig (Doc Rock) is Friday Feb 25th at "Southbound" in the Old City area of Knoxville. It should be a blast!!! It will be the debut of my new (to me) Brown Bass.

This job was a disaster: multiple bands, no sound check, inadequate monitors, incompetent (and insane) soundman, etc...

Good lord, that bass is nice.

You'll eventually get into a groove where no sound checks and bad monitors won't spoil the fun. :-)

The BB sounds great!!! I "bonded" with it almost immediately, so it's going to be a keeper.

In regards to the eye-candy stage right: she has a voice on her like you wouldn't believe!!!

The last job we did I ran sound from the stage... MUCH better. Our stage monitors have the same mix as the FOH; therefore, it works pretty well.

I actually prefer that technique (monitors duplicating mains). That way the balance and vocal blend are in the control of the vocalists. The band also needs to be willing to avoid "Volume Wars". It also makes for better stage front recordings (my passion whenever possible).

Mike: Our Drummer uses electronic drums and the keyboardist and I run direct (no stage amps). The only amp on stage is the guitarist's, but he has it turned down so low that I don't know why he doesn't just use a POD. This all makes for a very controlled sonic environment. We can be as quite or loud as the club wants.

We cover a pretty wide range of music: 80's Pop Rock, Motown, R&B, Semi-Disco, and a few newer tunes. We have some varying skill levels in the band, but we really have fun and folks seem to enjoy us.

Just throw a tambourine solo (By the girl!) in every song & you'll be a big hit! Do you all work together?

The guitarist and KBist are anesthesiologists at my main hospital (I'm an internist/hospitalist). The male singer is an orthopedic surgeon at a near-by hospital and the female singer is a nurse at yet another hospital. Our Latin Percussionist works with the singer (I'm honestly not sure what he does exactly) and the drummer manages a grocery store.

Yikes,
That nurse is sooooooooo hot! But I'm diggin' your axe!!! Sweet assed Axe!!!!! 3/5 of my band are criminal justice. I have been considering just taking my DS-5 (It powers My Distillate and Wittman 5 string) and going direct. Keep it low and stay outta treble.
