We get the rich colors on our basses and guitars by tinting the finish. By suspending
the color between clear coats of finish, the color is deep, and it's completely reversible. These finishes look
best over Maples. The front and back of the body, the back of the neck and the front and back of the peghead each have the
burst pattern on bursted finishes unless the back is Mahogany, then sometimes it looks better to leave the back solid. We'll
help you decide what looks best on your Alembic.
Our opaque colors are just that - entirely opaque
so no wood grain is visible. You can choose a wood for the tone, then paint it the color you prefer. Solid Maple for a brighter
sound, solid Mahogany for a more versatile instrument.
As a full service custom
shop, we are now also doing stained colors. We've just done black so far, but we're sure to add more colors
soon.
These colors are just the start! You can direct us to tint the finish on your custom build by providing a color sample.

Amberburst finish pictured on a Skylark guitar over Flame Maple. A light shade of yellow amber at
the center, then blending to a darker amber on the edges, our Amberburst finish enhances any maple.

Amber finish pictured on an Elan bass over Flame Maple. A honey shade of yellow amber all
over.

Sunrise finish pictured on a Series II guitar over 5A Quilted Maple. Starting with the faintest wash of orange at the
center, blending to a vintage orange edge.

with red sprayed at the edges.

|
Opaque Fiesta Red pictured on a custom Spoiler bass. Arresting color, with the slightest tinges of
orange and bright pink but undeniably red.
|
Wineburst finish pictured on a Skylark guitar over Flame Maple. Amber at the center, then wine, then
almost black at the edges.
|
Root Beer Float pictured on a custom bass. Amber center bursted out to a sweet root beer brown.
|
Opaque Powder Blue pictured on a custom Spoiler bass. Cheery blue color that is opaque (no
wood grain shows through).
|
Caribbean Blue finish pictured on an Excel bass over Flame Maple. Solid carribean blue is a
green-blue, like the ocean waves over the sands on St. Croix, or so we're told.
|
Blue Moonburst finish pictured on a Series II bass over 5A Quilted Maple. A pale blue at the
center, bursting to brilliant sapphire at the edges.
|
Tealburst finish pictured on a Skylark over Flame Maple. One gorgeous shade of greenish-blue
teal and bursts from faint at the center to rich at the edges.
|
Oceanburst finish pictured on a Skylark over Flame Maple. Intense green color radiates from the center
to a vibrant blue edge.
|
Stained Black pictured on a Signature Deluxe over 5A Quilted Maple. Deep, rich stain dyes
the wood black, but still shows off the highly figured wood.
|
Opaque Black pictured on an Elan bass. The blackest! Opaque Black finish obscures any
wood selection, so choose for tone, then paint it black.
