If you are experiencing RF noise, radio frequency interference, in your older non-Series instrument, check the control cavity to see if there is a ferrite bead. The bead is a cylinder, looks like a short water pipe, that the leads from the pickups pass through. Here is a picture. If you're getting noise and you don't have a ferrite bead, then that may be the problem. You can order one from the shop. The leads should pass through then loop back and pass through again; the more wire that runs through the bead, the more effective it is.
