This clip says Allman Brothers, but it's really Greg, Dicky, and Butch. Duane's dead, Jaimoe, and Oteil have gone missing. I have no idea who is backing Dicky or who the bass player is but it looks like a big ol' series something. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfM6nRVBvGs&feature=autoplay&list=PLC16FFD90457204BE&index=6&playnext=2 Do we know this bass player? |

Don't forget, Daniel, there have been about 20 members of ABB over the years. That clip is the 1980-82 line-up. Jaimoe was fired in '80 & replaced by David "Frankie" Toler until the 1982-89 hiatus. Also included, besides Gregg, Butch, Dickie & Rook, were Dangerous Dan Toler (long-time & still Betts collaborator) on guitar & Mike Lawler on keys. Big Al Glisson also played guitar with them in this period, but I neither see nor hear him in this clip. Peter |

Thanks guys for the fill ins. I was a rabid ABB fan in Duane days and for awhile after. I then didn't follow them much until just a few years ago when "Hittin' the Note" was released. I do really like the current lineup with Warren and Derek and Oteil, although Oteil obviously hasn't gotten the word on basses (just kidding ;o)). The biggest improvement though to my ears has been Marc Quinones! He has added a whole nuther dimension to that amazing ABB sound. Jazz, Rock, Blues; there really isn't anyone else doing the whole maryanne like that. Lot's of improv but with a tight score. Remarkable. My only beef with the band is they don't tour west of the Mississippi. I never have seen them. Dan |

In defense of the Brothers, they make it out to Colorado almost every year. Look for them at Red Rocks on Labor Day weekends... I have had the pleasure of watching them from the stage, behind the percussion section, and, yes, Marc Quinones ROCKS! Holds it together, changes the flavor, the whole enchilada. A great addition to the band. |
