Not only the Featured Customs have got 'em, I'm certainly not the only one who gives their Alembic(s) names around here, right? - 1980-ish Series I: 'Birdy' (quite obvious when you see those birds staring at you from her top, back and headstock) - 1991 EVH Signature: 'St. Stephen' (my favorite Grateful Dead song, actually from 'Aoxomoxoa', the first GD album Alembic was really involved in) - 1999 Orion: 'Ent' (the Dutch word for graft, and since the top wood is grafted walnut...) Wilfred - that's me ;-) |

I have a flame purpleheart top 03'Rogue 5 but haven't named it yet.One of the band leaders asked me once what I named it but I didn't have an answer for him.Maybe you can Wilfred or any other club member can take a stab at it if they would like. http://alembic.com/club/messages/411/5756.html?1089467855 |

My 96 Stanley Clark Signature standard is called Cupcake because she's a sweet treat for one! I haven't named my Persuader or Epic. |

Well, your Rogue is a great looking instrument, and it's very obvious to use the purpleheart aspect while naming her. But I think it's very personal, the name should be fitting to you, and no-one else. The best I can come up with is 'Purple Haze' at the moment... Wilfred |

Paul, the natural way everyone around here responded to the fact of you giving your beautiful instrument the name 'Bonnie', is actually what made me think about naming my Alembics also! Wilfred |

hmm, my basses are named: The Fender The Pedulla The Alembic The MK (Michael Kelly Guitars) The Fretted Bass (an Ibanez) The Old Upright The New Upright These names show about as much imagination as the names I give my cats. (fuzzy cat, stupid cat...) So, I guess I'm just hopeless. But if I ever get another Alembic I guess I'll have to get out the baby names book ;-) Or I could have a naming contest for my Alembic on the forums, maybe? |

Because the Bass is indeed the product of the Elven smiths at Alembic, it only seemed appropriate to give my bass an Elvish name (Quenya, of course!), so mine is Erin-Oromion, wood of the forest lord. Ken (TEO) |

My SPOILER is an Omega-shaped, Crown-headed beauty in see-through red. My brother-in-law came to town with my sister, and after hearing all about it over the phone just had to see it. I brought the case in the room, opened it, and lifted it out. Whereupon he said, "Wow, that's a BIG RED BASS!" And .. now... you know the rest of the story. J o e y |

I have named a few of my treasured instruments after women who were significant in my life at the time I was using the instrument as my primary one. And before you comment..!! :-) No....i don't have a shop load of guitars named after women.... lol. So.. there are 3 guitars with names and the Alembic bass. .. Mule: Cool basses, cool names. As a Deadhead, I would have thought "Birdy' would be short for "Bird Song". Craig: I'm glad that Tribute found it's way into a good Deadhead home. Fitting name. Keavin: Old #12 is absolutely cool...it looks like that thing will outlive you (God forbid). Keep on jammin'! A lot of guys bang around on old "P"'s and "J"'s, but you don't see a lot of old Alembics (actually, you don't see a lot of Alembics period, LOL!). Jazzy: Great (thinly) veiled sarcasm aimed at the ex. As a divorced man, I got a good chuckle! LOL! (Message edited by kmh364 on July 27, 2004) |

Keavin, alembicroyalcrown? With old #12 shouldn't that be alembicjackdaniels? My instruments are named like Magni's, the Alembic and the other ones. I just couldn't think of anything appropriate. I was going to name my Epic Cuchullian but can never remember how to spell it. Sam |

I had an Orion named "Black Oak," an Epic named "Blondie," and still have an Orion w/Std. Pt. body named "Demon Seed!" All named by a singer I work with. I named my Zeta, "Pogo."

I've finally come up with a name for my Rogue.Since every time I play it,a quote from one of my all time favorite comedians,Jackie Gleason, comes to mind..... "How Sweeeet it is". So I named it "Sweetness".
