Google finds these previous threads: Series I 1977-744 for sale from June 2007 105 Saturn Rings from the Wood Bank, where longtime member s_wood commented - "I had a 77 Series I with a schedua top (SN 77-744) for a few months a couple of years ago. Although the top was gorgeous, I never could get into the bass's dark tone, which was a primarily a function of the cherry core. Each to their own... " |

Hi Shoji, The official build card shows: top and back: Schedua body: Cherry neck: Maple, Beech, Purpleheart scale: long 34" fingerboard: Ebony inlays: mother of pearl peghead veneers: Vermilion birthday: June 23, 1977 originally made for: Rothchild The dark tone is probably due to the combination of the Cherry core (my bass has this) and the Schedua top and back, which really emphasizes the lows. |
