OK really. I wanna know who is seriously interested in this piece. I'm gettin a real bad itch for this fine creation. I'm sure my wife will say no (to put it mildly). But I think I gotta go for this one somehow. |

you know. There is just no good way to present something like this to your wife. She's even a bass player and I know she still won't understand. "But you already have a fretless Alembic." she'll say. Anybody got a good line I can use. |

I really like that angle. But she wouldn't play it because "it doesn't have enough strings." She plays a five string and won't touch anything that has less than five strings. I like David's angle too. Just wish I knew how much that Christmas Bonus is going to actually be. |

If I can figure out the technical side, look at this: http://alembic.com/club/messages/395/31452.html?1159764584 Hey, I have my share. I'll yield to others who don't have theirs, or guys like you or TK who have helped me get my share. BUT, if none of them is interested, I'm in. dw |

Looking closely, it's either been back to the factory for upgrades, or someone else worked on it. The adjustable nut wasn't around back in '74. Also there appears to be some type of string guide posts added to the headstock. This is a pretty cool mod, IMHO that deals with one common characterisic of some early Alembics - the tuning machines were spaced in a manner that resulted in the strings touching each other after they went over the nut, on the way to the tuners. (My '76 Series 1 guitar has this). The brass thumbrest on the corner of the bridge pickup is tres cool! Bill, tgo |

Doc, Yes, I am. Let me introduce myself. I have played bass since 1963. Any instrument I buy will get played. It was nearly too much to pay, but my sons are out of college! I am new to Alembic, although I have read much about the company and the basses. I play Gibson (EB-2), Tobias (Killer B), and Fender (precision) basses but I am sure the Alembic will become an important part of my low-end. Allen |

Wait a minute, his first Alembic is this wonderful old beauty? Not sure I like this guy! Well done amedine, she looks like a special piece. You'll recover most of your purchase price once you play her and sell all those other bass thingies you now own. DOH! Welcome & Congrats! |

David, Gary, Mike, Olie, Doc, Normand, Harry and Jeff, Thanks for all your kind words, and encouragement regarding my transition to the Alembic perspective. I am looking forward to the journey. However, when I die, you will still have to pry my fingers off my first bass, EB-2 (1968), that I have played, and still play, for nearly 40 years (the Kalamazoo didn't count). I am sure some of those "bass thingies" I own will move on to less enlightened individuals. Allen |

Allen. There is a verse in The Bible that says: Ye have not because ye ask not. So I'm gonna go out on a limb here. If you are still in possesion of this instrument upon the time of your passing, Would you put it in your will that your sons should sell the bass for a fair price to James"Doc" Greene? OK I'll stop lusting & coveting now. |

Hey J. Yeah. when I worked at Gallien-Krueger, one of the amplifier engineers decided he wanted to be a bass player too. So I took him to Guitar Showcase and Introduced him to the owner. My buddy decided that a Series I was what he needed to learn to play bass on. Gary Wineroth had no Idea that he was beginner. After deciding to buy the bass, Gary told him he might want to look at straps and strings and stuff. I though Gary was gonna die though when my buddy asked him for a beginning bass book and video so he could learn how to play. coincendentally, I believe that bass is just sitting on a stand. |
