Hello all,

I need to simplify, and I'm going to put some precious things out there. I bought this to play and never could, it was too perfect. This is an "as new" bass that Mica once called a pretty unusual piece.

Intro thread with picture:

Build record:
http://alembic.com/club/messages/394/22452.html?1132193817

It will go to eBay, but The Club gets first dibs.

I know you don't know me, but I've been reading this board regularly since I got this bass almost five years ago. It's an amazing community I'll always follow even after this goes.

What makes it an Essence? Is it a set-neck?

Essence basses are neck through. I suspect that the bass started off with the basic Essence model and was then customized. Therefore it is an Essence. Personally I would say it is really more of a Europa based on it's features.

In the past, depending upon specials and whatnot this could be less expensive than buying the model you upgrade to. It also gets back to an area of confusion and that is just what makes an instrument one model or another. Since you can customize so much on an Alembic instrument it is easy to effectively turn on model into another.

FWIW my Rogue 5 is more of a Signature Deluxe than a Rogue. The only thing remaining of the Rogue is the body shape and serial number - everything else is upgraded or changed.

I just realized it's fretless. What are you looking to get for this instrument?

Interesting bass. I was considering going for it; however, I just found out that a MAJOR real estate investment is in the process of imploding. No more Alembics for me (for a while anyway). Good luck with the sale.

I guess I'm not very excited about selling this bass! I'm getting a lot of requests for more pictures, which is quite reasonable. I'll post more before Monday morning.

Also, to be clear, this is the only forum where this bass is currently listed for sale.

Mike, very sorry to hear about your investment. I live in an area where it was the new-built loft thing that was really exploding when the market shifted, and a lot of larger projects failed. Be well.

Hi all, here are some pictures. Sorry about the quality, the only camera I have is on my phone. I really need to thin the herd (I also have a Synthi AKS and an ARP 2600 I'm convincing myself to let go of), so if these pics are unacceptable, a real camera is soon in my future.

Bass is dead mint, case has three pea-sized holes in the tolex which I sharpied into invisibility and a dent on the vinyl endwrap about 1/16" deep.

Thanks,

Robert (tso)

Too bad it doesn't have frets! Very interesting combination of features!
