Following the results of an MRI on my neck (surgery now being the likely option) I'm selling any heavy/uncomfortable basses I own, including (and very regrettably) my Alembic Triple Omega. It's on a commission sale at the Bass Gallery in the UK. Here's the link: http://www.thebassgallery.com/alembicmkomeg.html Up for £3300, which given current exchange rates may be more attractive to our overseas cousins. |

Thanks. I can honestly say that it's the nicest walnut top I've ever seen; ask Lozbass who has seen it in real life. He agrees! It'll be heart rending to see this go, but my neck & back problems now take priority. Just to clarify, it has a chambered body (as per Series basses) with superb walnut facings front & rear, dummy humcanceller (functional but not connected), signature electronics, purpleheart neck lams with lightly flamed maple, knobby headstock, abalone inlays and brass hardware. Weight is somewhere between 10 and 11lbs at a guess, and it balances perfectly. Apart from some tiny scratches on the truss rod cover from slap and pop action it's absolutely mint, only been out of the (smoke free) house twice, never rehearsed or gigged. Comes with case and original build card etc and optional smaller knobs. Shaun, I'm so sorry about your back problems, what a heartbreak! If I didn't already have 4 Alembics at my house, I'd offer to buy it and keep it available to you to repurchase if and when your back improved. Good luck with the sale, and I hope that your back problem gets sorted out quickly!! Ken (TEO) |

Thanks Ken, your words are much appreciated. I sincerely hope my back/neck does improve, but can't really afford to take the risk. Hopefully there'll be another Alembic somewhere down the line. It will be a sad day indeed for me if this goes (it was my dream bass and I waited 20-odd years for it), but sometimes common sense must win out. What's the quote from LOTR....something to the effect of "a man who cannot let go a treasure at need is truly chained"? BTW, I'm happy to send photos to any interested parties but if specific photos are required or if anyone wants to try/buy they'll have to contact the Bass Gallery in Camden as that's where it is now. You do know that having the bass on consignment at the Gallery does not tie you in to exclusivity, ie you can still advertise it privately here or elsewhere and withdraw it from Alex's mitts if you find a buyer? ;o) |

Bill, if weight is the issue you could have a Triple Omega Essence built like Valentino's. Check it out in the showcase section under Essence. |

Correction, it is under custom basses "coco bolo ash triple omega essence" I'd post the link but I'm computer illiterate. |

Hi pcclifton, I'm aware of that but given they're in London and I'm about 200 miles north it would only cause me more problems; I'm quite happy to sell through them unless someone has objections dealing with them (I can't imagine why they would). 2400wattman, I considered one like Val's before I had mine made. Unfortunately at this point even if I sell mine I wouldn't be able to afford another for a long, long while, but when the time comes I will certainly consider all options. |

I was only thinking that a private buyer might be more tempted if you were offering the bass for sale direct minus the commission The Gallery take from you if they sell it for you, ie 15-20% less? If I know you are here to talk to and have a bass for sale, why would I happily pay a surcharge to The Gallery ;o) |

Heartbreaking news Shaun. As I said before, it's a stunning bass and if it had just one more string I'd have it straightaway. Graeme |

Hi Paul, obviously that's something I'm aware of. However getting the bass back would be a pain in the neck (particularly if the buyer backed out, in which case I'd have to take it back again, something that's happened to me before)and also packing and shipping it (if necessary) is something I'd rather not get involved in if possible. For a start, it's hard enough letting it go.... Graeme, thanks for the thoughts. If only I'd ordered a five! I'd have been glad for you to have it; I'd love it to go to someone I knew and who would appreciate it. |

Hi Christophe, thanks for the interest (and the thoughts which are much appreciated). A buyer has paid a deposit so it looks like it's going; I also have another interested party. However if for any reason both fall through I'll let you know. |

Thank you very much for your quick reply, Shaun. It seems that I've been kind of late... :-) But it's fine, and I hope your selling will be fast and ok! Christophe |

Sadly my wonderful bass is now sold, and is now with its new owner in Germany. I'll miss it a great deal, and I wish things had worked out differently. Thanks once again to all at Alembic for making a dream come true and bringing me a lot of happiness in the process; let's hope that one day we can do it again. P.S. I'll still be sticking around here, as I'm still an Alembic owner in my head... |

Cheers George. It's the neck that's causing me problems at the mo; off to see the consultant next month. |

Hi Shaun, I'm so sorry about your back problem. If you want continue to play a bass, Jerzy Drozed Barcerona might be one of solution. I could try to play it once. I felt it's so light almost like a feather! |

Hi Toshiaki Good to hear from you! The Barcelona is certainly one of the basses I would most like to try; I think they look beautiful. Unfortunately at the moment I can't afford one, even after selling the Alembic. By the way, the Balance K in your profile is stunning! I dreamt about my former Alembic last night...not good! I suspect it might take a while to come to terms with it... |
