Brothet Ken, I'm in - I'm in - I'm in!!!!!!! Well ...let's see ?!?!? I always have found those triplpe omega's with pistolgrip having something ...well ...fantasylike ...elfish ...really. It very "woody" because the remarkable wood-patterns. Treebeard would certainly recognize an old friend, maybe once demolished by a typhoon and now giving a new live by the Alembicians. Well, I've finally got here, apparently rather late! All my Alembic club brothers(are there any sisters? Well Mica of course, although she probably ranks higher than sister!) made it to the party before me.....but oh my goodness was it worth the wait!!!!! (I just hope you all saved me a beer...) I really don't know what to say!!!! That wood is just phenomenal!!!!! That BASS is just phenomenal!!! Even at this stage, it is way beyond my wildest expectations! First of all Mica, I want to say thank you so much for everything so far, you've been incredibly kind and supportive and have managed to put up with my various ramblings (a magical feat in itself); you've made an ageing "elf"(in my dreams!)incredibly happy!!! And it was nice finally talking to you on the phone (sorry it was so early your time, and I hope that you and your Mom and Dad are on your way back to the best of health!!!) Secondly, thanks to everyone at Alembic who has been involved in the construction of this bass (Go Tony!!! The Gandalf of carvers!). And thirdly, thanks to you all, Ken, Oliver, Bill, Paul, Marc and Hollis for your extremely kind comments. Hi Ken! Maybe we better had start thinking of something, although I think you may be better qualified than me judging by your previous suggestions! I'm a little scared I won't do it justice! My girlfriend thinks the wood reminds her of a tiger's pelt in pattern; I seem to see an eagle's wings for some reason (maybe its the shock/joy, or possibly just having seen Return of the King for the 5th time!). Paul, I agree with your comments; in fact I think that's what attracted me to the whole Triple O idea the first time I saw one; it had a kind of "fantasy" quality to it. I can't imagine Treebeard could have looked for a better reincarnation for a departed friend! Marc, the wood is superb flame walnut; but it looks to be a singular piece. Once again, Mica takes most of the credit, as it was she who suggested it. I'm so glad I agreed! Phew!!! I'd like to say I'm lost for words, but as you can tell by the length of this post that's not the case! Wow, I need to sit down....oh, I already am! Just unbelievable..... All the best Shaun | ||

Another stunning Triple O taking shape! Congratulations, Shaun, nice choice of woods...oh, and get ready, because when you finally hold her in your hands, and strap her on, life will change slightly for you. She will make it easier for you to get up in the morning, but also make it harder for you to get to sleep at night. People will ask about that silly grin on your face during the day. Hi Paul Sorry about the delay in replying but I've been rather busy. That is indeed a knobby headstock; I just think it sits so well with the Triple O body shape (but then I would, seeing as the first one I ever say was JPJ's 8 string). Glad you approve! With regards to editing my profile, well, I don't think I even realised you could (or that anybody could read it!), until reading your post and then looking at the top of the screen, duh! Well, I'm late again (this whole time difference thing is a real bummer sometimes)! I have only 1 thing to say: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Actually that's not quite the only thing I have to say.....that is ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I first came on, about five minutes ago (I've been slack jawed and incapable of typing until now)I nearly screamed the house down! I wasn't really expecting anymore pictures yet, although I knew the bass was imminent.....I just can't believe it. I've spent over twenty years dreaming about owning a Triple O,and never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd ever get one. I've spent so much time in that time trying to even find decent pictures(mainly of JPJs 8 string); when I discovered the Alembic site, I was ecstatic, and then I saw the Riff King (by the way, which of all you guys owns that?).... I remember sitting in my lunch hour at work staring at that bass thinking how disappointing it was that I would never be able to get one. Finally in October last year I got to the US and saw Ed Roman's featured custom which blew my mind, and when I got back I saw the Triple O in London's Bass Centre (now House of Guitars)and that was it. I'd just hit 40 and figured I owed it to myself. I had to sell some cherished instruments to get this, but now I'm convinced it was all worth it. In fact just the picture makes it all worth while! Firstly thanks to everyone for their comments. This really is an amazing club; a friend who browsed the Club site said he couldn't believe how nice everybody was! And I couldn't agree more! Secondly, and even more importantly, I'd like to say thanks to all at Alembic for making my dreams come true in the most spectacular way possible. Mica, Susan, Ron, Tony, Val and everyone else who has been involved in any way, however minor, I can't thank you enough. I just can't wait to get the bass now! I guess when I do I'll have achieved my own personal nirvana.....still got to think of a name though Ken! It'll come to me...when I get her (or is it him?)I will let you all know how she(he?) sounds and feels, providing I can stop drooling long enough to actually play! Finally, in the words of Homer Simpson, WAHOOOOO!!!! All the best to everybody Shaun ps if none of this makes sense, its not my fault! Just look at that bass!!!! | ||

Neighbours? I've got neighbours? Sorry, all I can think is I've (almost)got an Alembic Triple Omega; I'll just say that again - an Alembic Triple Omega. Oh boy that feels good! Chris, I don't think I've EVER been called a distinguished and respected member of my local community before(although I've been called plenty of other things), and although I may be 40, my girlfriend would tell you I'm not exactly known for acting my age. Which is exactly how it should be!  By the way, did it feel this good when you got your Triple O? (OK, Stupid question - I mean I've seen pictures of it, how could it not???!) Hi Susan! I hope you are feeling better now. Many thanks for the update; that's fantastic news!! I can't believe my bass is on the way to England, possibly as I'm typing (in fact it could even be here by now). I just feel somewhat guilty dragging it away from that beautiful California sun. Oh boy, weekend would be amazing (although Graham has to get it to the House of Guitars - and I know what that jetlag feels like, having made the trip myself fairly recently - and then they have to ship it to me). Talk about anticipation! Just one thing, I've got a feeling it may take me a while to recover from the sight, so I may not be posting immediately (unless I've just GOT to share my elation with the only people who will understand!) Shaun, As you can tell by the sparse nature of my posts, once you get it home, there is little that can draw you away from playing it. By the by, that is a astonishingly beautiful bass. Another masterpiece...breathtaking...Ken's right about that breathing thing. Ken, That's what I thought about brakes until I lost them heading north over the Siskiyou mountain pass hauling 80,000 lbs. total gross weight......now......lets just say......I'm perfectly comfortable being whimp-like. | ||

Thanks for the compliments guys! I'm currently waiting for a call from the House of Guitars to confirm that my bass has arrived (I'm pretty sure Graham would still be getting over jetlag today so I guess it may be in the next couple of days...) I think I need a complete chassis overhaul, never mind the brakes. BTW as it's absolutely freezing here at the moment I'm now California dreaming in more ways than one (bass AND weather)! Maybe when my bass arrives I won't notice the cold anymore (note to self, remember to keep breathing...) All the best guys Shaun |
