I have been totally blown away by the fantastic basses featured on this site. I have tried to post to the club but have been unsuccessful so far. I'll keep trying! Maybe I'm not getting my photos done right? I have owned this bass since 1976 when I bought it from a fella trying to pay for college. Never heard how he did. I only played for a couple more years and basically put the bass away. I've loaned it to some real players who needed to try some of the awesome tones and potential for the instrument. The last time I did this I was told that the intonation was off so that was that and it went back in the closet. What can I say I'm an idiot! It's right next to my '63 Fender Jazz which I played the heck out of for decades in bars and clubs. My future, and current wife of 25 years, and I refinished the Jazz in the late 60s so it's not worth anything but I still cherish it and the Alembic. I am looking to raise some cash, like so many of us, so price being right, I may sell. I have no idea where it fits in Alembic history, but the build paper has it being born before a bass with a lower serial #? Love to learn more about it. Thanks folks and play on!

Beautiful bass. Saw the first pic and loved it/wanted it. Scrolled down...saw pics 2-5 and the desire only intensified. Then got to pic #6 and saw the 34" scale (argh!). Am I the rare bassist whose arms are just not long enough to play a 34" scale or are there others on the smallish side who are as frustrated as I am trying to find a Series bass on a smaller scale. Were many series made as 32s. |

Dave: I should have suggested this in my first post but you might want to consider having this thread moved to the Swap Shop Wish List For Sale section. It would be seen by a lot more members there. Beautiful bass! |

Thanks for your kind words. I appreciate all of the comments. Though selling it wasn't the primary reason I put it on the site. I just wanted to get in on the conversation and share the instrument with everyone. I do however see the logic of putting this thread on the for sale page if I make that decision. Yes it is big, it is powerful and has a great voice. The fact that it's a work of art too is just icing on the cupcake. The important thing about all this isn't just the instruments, it's the amazing folks who own and play 'em. |
