Ya know,every time I see a color finished Alembic (I know...I have one)I'm taken aback.But the more I look, the more I like.I still would would order a natural finish(maybe a honey or amber tint)but used?I'd wouldn't hesitate.They are FINE looking beauties......

Is it an optical illusion as that body looks shorter overall than normal and the waist isn't as long.

Good morning Jazzyvee! I think it's an illusion. To my eye the last picture has the right angle .The first few angles cause it to look shorter through the body.

I think they look great in trans colors (I don't think any of the shapes work in solids, plus WHERE at Alembic would they have crappy enough wood to paint over, anyway?). As much as I marvel at the woods they use, after a while, they all just look b r o w n . I might could stand a Point Series in the 'old school' 70's look, a maple front over a light brown wood back, but that's pushing it . . . .

It really would look good next to this . . . .

BigRedBass

. . . and it's a shade lighter than this . . . .

P/J Elan

. . . plus I'd like a Point Series !

That would be a fine collection! I'm curious, if I ever where to do a color, I think I would go yellow.I don't think I've seen anything in the club that is (although there is a cotm Darling that was orange w/a burst).I like bright!

If I ever get another one built, I think I'd go with a trans creamsicle orange with cream pickups and a maple fretboard (since the mothership seems to be more willing to make maple boards lately). The Elan I had built had a very nice honey tint, but for some reason that brighter orange always seems to make me smile.

You know, I wonder, is there is a thread of Alembics that have a color or tinted finish? If not I'd start one, only I can't post pics of my Elan w/my current set up.It would be a neat thread to see who shows up!(hint hint). =)
