Hi guys,

Hoping you might enjoy this. It was one of those tunes I just couldn't get out of my head this summer, so I decided to give it the old Alembic treatment.

Cool, Karl! Always enjoy your interpretations. Did you know I hear your Payphone at least 10 times a week? It's a favorite of my son. He calls it "Alembic Payphone"

Ha, I'm very flattered that your little boy likes that version of Payphone so much - hope you're not too sick of it (as tends to happen when you hear these things over and over again!), and it's great that you've obviously instilled an appreciation of the bass guitar into him at an early age :-) Wish I could say the same about my two little ones - when I start up, they tend to run out of the room with their hands over their ears, shouting 'Dad's making a racket again!'

Ha! Well spotted, Terry! Yes, I dropped the whole thing by a tone: A, C, E, D. That way, only one of the roots isn't an open string! In the original key, holding the root at the same time as the melody made for some insane stretches, and it was tricky to get the melody and chords flowing as well as they should, with all the leaping around the fretboard. So I made it easier for myself by using the open strings as much as possible!

Karl, the only reason I know is that we do this song in on of the bands I am in and the singer usually sings in the original key!
