Greetings all!
I've lately begun putting up a website for Fred Walecki's Westwood Music (http://www.westwoodmusic.com) and Fred asked me to research this guitar and gave me Rick Turner's number. Apparently, it's been sitting in the shop for years, not for sale. Rick told me that this is definitely one of the first 10 guitars he and Frank Fuller made, that the top is walnut, and that the logo is hand-carved sterling. If you want to see more pix, visit my personal site at http://anglesnet.com/alembic/alembic.htm. I'll be putting up pictures with a clearer serial number soon. Anyone have any idea how much it's worth?1974 Serial #87 Guitar Front

Pretty guitar! Does anyone know why there is a screw through the middle of the humcanceller? Doesn't that cancel the humcanceller? Or is that some sort of special trim pot?

I thought I was trying to be funny asking about that screw in the dummy pickup. I saw this guitar on ebay and it has the same screw in the hum canceller. What is that all about? Did that actually hold it in? I would have thought the screw through that dummy pickup would ruin it! Check it out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2513860538&category=2384

I noticed that the 1975 series 1 guitar pictured doesn't have it.
