Well this is my Series 1 from 1977. I bought it in Paris in 1990.

Thanks very much.
It's a very nice bass indeed. I paid 2 150 Euros (1400 UK £ - 3000 US $) for it in 1990, which was a good bargain I believe. The body is semi hollow. Serial number is 77 - 617.
I have a few things to replace from the onboard preamp but it's very difficult to find someone in France capable to repare this kind of bass and also to obtain spare elements (jack socket, pickups...). So if anyone can help with some good addresses throughout Europe, that would be really helpfull.
Thanks everyone for such nice welcoming on the Alembic club.

Non-US dealers are listed here.

The two that seem to get mentioned the most in the forum are:

Bass Connection in Holland

Station Music in Germany

Edwin Van Huik at Bass Connection is very knowledgeable about Alembics and might be the best source for the help you are looking for.

Is that quilt maple? I love the tint and grain.

Hi dtrice
It is birdseye maple actually. The front body varnish is still OK but you shouldn't see the back ! The guy who owned it before me wasn't as careful as I am.
