This is my 1977 Series 1 Medium Scale Point. It is myrtle wood top, standard series I electronics, and mohogany body. It has a graphite reinforced fingerboard, side LEDs, chromed brass parts, a Hipshot E-string tuner with Pyramid Gold strings.

Very nice bass indeed. Curious, it doesn't look like a 1977 model (because of the plate between the neck and the bass PU). Congratulations. |

Actually I think edmouk is ralking about the serial number plate at the end of the fretboard, above the pickup, not the plate on the back of the bass. Those may have first been added sometime after 1977. And welcome to the wonderful world of Alembic ownership! Peace, James |

Did they do graphite reinforcement in 1977? That's pretty forward thinking for those days! Edwin |

The plate was added in 1980 when the fingerboard was replaced and graphite was used to reinforce the board. Graphite Rods were used to stablize the neck because it moved when i used heavy strings. |

Was it neck tension problems ? I have this kind of trouble with my "new" 1978 Series I as you may have noticed somewhere on this forum. Graphite might be a good solution actually ! |

Actually at that time that bass was the year of having dual-truss rods. I thought that would let me make use of a heaver string.I started to use Pymarid`s and then changed to a heaver Half Round String. In those days that was the Craze. The fingerboard warped causing adjustments that made everything move more. Thanks to Alembic`s commitment that problem was solved. To this day everthing I see out there in the world of Basses,Alembic always shows the compitition who`s king. |

What a wild `78.What are the electronics. They look standard Series 1 until the top threeknobs show going towards the neck.Would like to have that circuitry explained. |
