Following on the recent eBay/Craigslist message, Here and Gone, I picked up this bass which was listed on eBay with a $1975 buy it now. Someone hit buy it now and than backed out. The bass needs some restoration and I will be sending it to Alembic this week. More pictures when it is done - wonderful striped Koa top! Dates early 80s - serial number is worn off the fretboard

I found the serial number of my early 80s "mysterious" Series I shortscale stamped in the wood under both pickups.

Speaking of pick-ups, to me the pic looks like the pickups are mounted with four screws showing - very un-Alembic.

Hi Bill,
This bass sat without strings for years. The electronics are "very Alembic" as is the rest of the bass. It's being shipped Monday to Alembic for a restore. The extra screws in the pickups are wrong. Todd

I have just received the 82 Koa Series I back from Alembic - they re-finished with a gorgeous finish, refretted and restored everything - the bass has super low action and sounds amazing. Check the pix I've just listed under 82 Koa Series I restoration
