Hey everyone!
As some of you know, I bought Mark's Triple O. And what a purchase that was!
First of all, I want to thank Mark. He went through a lot of stuff to help me with my "international problems". He solved me a hole bunch of stuff. An incredible guy he is. Thanks dude.
Now, to the bass. It is ground shaking.... I almost blew my amp up...! It has a strong bottom, with a lot of brilliance on the high end. Could not ask for more....
The appearance is a chapter apart. It is so beautiful. Such a piece of art. Every time I open the case, people stop talking. That is something, right?
Sure, it is heavier than an elephant jumping on your shoulder, but it is worth the extra pain.
I never had a bass with LEDs before... Very nice. Because of them, people are calling my bass "Christmas Tree"... I guess I'll stick to that nickname, 'cause I know I always get nice gifts by playing it!!!
I left it in the studio today, but soon I'll be going there to rehearse for a concert this weekend, and I'll pick it up and bring it home for the pictures I promised a long time ago...

Caught some window reflections on that one. I'll wait until the sun gets on a better position to take some more pics. And I still haven't found a way to make justice to the wood.... Pictures, as always, can not show the real beauty....

Indeed, the sound is something out of this world. I'm running it through my Ampeg SVT-2, and it can shake every single thing on the room... Awesome!!!
I'll have my first concert with it this saturday.... I can't miss a note, cause I'm sure everyone will be staring at me... :-)

DAAAAAAAMMMMMM!

Greg you know, I know you deserve this bass man. I am so extremely happy for you.

Man, this thread was hidden until Mario mentioned something about a Brazilian gathering, and BAM!

Your wonderful grand-slamming pictures of this Alembic-Fabulous POPS out at me on my 22 inch Samsung monitor!

What a wonderful surprise to see this, to be your bass. This is really "out of sight!!!" I am smiling so hard to learn this, and its my true feelings of heart felt happiness for you G!

Your bass is eye-candy, so please enjoy this bass with pride, for you have so far, the baddest basses, I ever seen!

Are you sure, that's not granite, instead of wood? :-)

Just a thing I remembered.
Last weekend, I played my first live gig with it. The whole band suffered from a bad sound engineer. But only one instrument was clean and perfect the entire concert: My bass. THANK YOU ALEMBIC! This bass sounds so good... Everyone was commenting!
But the best comment was one made by the father of a guy that was playing guitar for me. He collects instruments (with really special ones in his possession). He actually came to me and after commenting on the sound and presence of the bass, he actually said: "Oh, and that is a very nice paint job."
It was hard convincing him it was just a perfectly chosen wood... :-)

Hey Greg,

The chrome hardware on your bass, I swear comes right from the pages of my playbook.

I love the "sterile cleanliness, the accuracy, and the light-reflective characteristics of chrome. It stimulates a freshness -- newness and it "excite me" -- "wakens me", -- in much better, and greater ways than brass or gold. :-)

Chrome also make objects look serious (as a tool should be) -- Chrome has a clean, crisp utilitarian look and feel. Chrome, is as modern you can get.

Your chrome back plates, and all your hardware is purely immaculate.

Before I dig myself into a hole about brass and gold, let me just add this...

Gold and Brass on vintage Alembics, are the original look of a classic Alembic. "I am crazy for them..." -- they look vintage, they feel vintage, and they truly are old enough to honor the requirements they need to maintain them. "They are classic guitars..."

Never, would I ever replace vintage Alembic brass/gold, with new chrome... That would be a sin.

However, to each their own.
I simply love Chrome on new basses more.

Hey guys, right now, I use Ampeg amps.
I have a BA-115 Bass Combo, that I also use for practicing.
For recordings, and bigger shows, I have a SVT-2 PRO Head, a B-410HE and a B115E.

I'm planning to start a new rig, with a F-1X Preamp (I suppose I don't need to post a link to that, right? :-)), a QSC PLX 3102 for delivering the power, and a Orange OBC810 Cabinet. Hopefully, I'll start shopping it next year.

Greg, showing your beautiful bass, was my thanks to you my friend.

I am on vacation, enjoying the vibes where I can, and your bass came to the forefront again with great delight.

Yeah, it was a great feeling to see those pictures of your beautiful countryside as well. All I could imagine was the texture of a oil painting along with music by Stan Getz and Astrud Gilberto I can hear in the distances.

BTW, what kind of camera did you use while taking those wonderful photos?

I have a Leica C-Lux 3. It is the best point and shoot camera ever, in my opinion.
Simple to use, very compact, perfect photos with just the right amount of colors...
I don't like Sony like cameras. They force the colors too much.... Leica makes them much more natural, capturing the details much better

I own a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3.

www.testfreaks.com/digitalcameras/panasonic-lumix-dmc-lx3/

If I had a choice between both cameras (yours and mine) in terms of the desired factor of a 10.1 mega-pixel (which they both are...) I would only take the flip of a coin.

I purchased my camera from overseas months ahead before they'd entered the US. Taking pictures, has always been one of my hobbies. I just love this camera.

Do you have other LED lighted Basses?

Hal, you are asking everyone on site about their LED colors, wich one seems to be softer? I mean, this is something I've been seriously thinking about, but wanted something more dimmed and subtle than a xmas tree...

Hi Mario, frankly -- the first time I ever-seen LED's, was in 1986, on Stanley Clarke's Alembic; in a small club in San Francisco. I seen Red LED's along the sides of the neck of his bass, and I was marveled by the idea for the first time.

Funny, now every time I see LED's on basses, it brings a good memory of me watching Stanley play his "soul off" in the dark.

Peace and Love

Hey there everyone...
I have some news to share. This bass is not mine anymore. After a couple of months I realized that this bass belonged to someone else. It was just too heavy and too big for me. It has a killer sound, no doubt, but I just wasn´t fully confortable with it.
I met with Abidu, another Brazilian member of the club, who saw my bass and said would do anything for it! Abidu has an unbelievable collection of basses, and I understood that he would take good care of this beast. So we exchanged some basses.
From the ones I got, the one that matters here is an Alembic Expoiter with Spoiler guts, which I loved the moment I strapped it in.
Now my collection consists of The Exploiter and the Stanley Clarke Deluxe. Nothing to complain about! :-)
So, this baby here has a new home. And a very very good new dad. Take good care of her Abidu!!

Well well, at least you tried it and had a personal experience. That's the best way to see it you're made for each other :-).

Just for curiosity, how many lbs it weighs ?

Enzo, honestly, I never weighted it with precision...
I will ask Abidu to find it out for us!

Indeed, I really tried, but man, the Stanley Clarke is such a better match...
She just might be the one!! :-)

Greg, it's hard to believe this bass left your hands to be with another...:-(

My Blondie was pulling away, but I just slapped it around a bit, and I was good to go... I also like the fact that I can compare both Series basses and there are some very serious differences in sounds. (I'll discuss this some other time... but let me just say, now I know why people love vintage Alembic sounds...)

I was basically on hiatus, until I read you were letting go of your "3-O-mi-goodness bass". But I understand, because I said good bye to a long scale Series I for the same reason (Heavy -- Too Heavy...) It hurt so good playing it, but my back was not happy.

Enjoy that Coco Bolo SC!

Peace and Love,

Hal-

Hal, I did try to keep it... But to be honest, I don't like to keep basses that I know I won't be playing much... I rather sell them and use the money to buy myself a new one. That is why I own two basses, only. I do a lot of work with them, and they are all I need...
It was said to let go such a magnificent bass, but I know the new owner is also very careful and passionate about his instruments.
And let me tell you something: I'm glad I sold it, because this Cocobolo thing is an unbelievable bass...
