Sorry about the two images...not sure how I did that (my first time posting pics). It would be nice to actually have two, but I don't think that I could afford it.....:-)

Lucky for you that that's such a great lookin' bass. Otherwise we'd have to hunt ya down and slip bamboo under the fingernails of your frettin' hand. That's the sentence 'round these parts for double postin', pawdner.

Peace,

Shoot, and I thought it was one of those games where we had to figure out what was different between the two pictures... (wait - are those floor tiles reversed?).

Personally, I'm not much of an omega fan, but I've got to admit this is really stunning, particularly the bright center with the dark stuff in the outer regions, and the purpleheart contrast is really nice all around.

I should think one is plenty. Congratulations.

Very nice bass. Welcome from another East Coast Epic owner, just a little further south. How about putting up pictures of the Epic?

I can't even begin to say how jealous I am! That is one of the coolest basses I have ever seen! Absolutely stunning! But then anyone who pays any attention to my single-minded ramblings will be aware by now that I'm a huge T.O. fan...still, this one REALLY rocks! Oh I wish I could afford the buckeye....BTW did I see this advertised at Bass Central?

Yes, Mr.Beaver Felton at Bass Central (great guy to deal with) ordered this from the factory earlier this year, and received it, I believe, in late October.I checked the price of November's featured custom at Ed Roman's, but I would have to mortgage everything I own (plus my firstborn) for that one. I was going to factory-order one in early 2004, and when I saw this, my heart skipped a beat or two. Beaver spec'd this one just right, and, while still quite pricey, made it much more obtainable. They do a nice job down there......
although this might be a bit exotic for some musicians, stunning and breathtaking is the only way I can describe this combination of woods & colors. I don't know whether to play it, or frame it & hang it on the wall..................

Sam - I posted a pic of my Epic over in the "Epic section"...I can't decide whether to sell it or not, as this Triple O put quite a dent in the cash flow, but it's in such good shape that I'd hate to part with it. By the way, nice Zebrawood! Chris

Chris about selling the Epic, DON'T! In a couple of months that urge will have passed, you will have survived, and you'll still have two great basses.

The buckeye really is truly stunning! And the THG knobs are gorgeous too.

I'm not worthy. I have to play more!

How did you get the knobs to match so perfectly? Did you send Roger scraps from the actual top?

If I remember correctly, I just described the coloration to Roger at the time, and he used his wisdom & experience to come up with the right knobs. I would think emailing a photo of the top wood would be the best idea for an even more perfect match.
I was going to scrape off some of the top layer of the Buckeye from the bass to Fedex over, but thought better of it at the last minute. :-}

I love the look of these basses. The extra reach and enormous weight are such a killer for me.

Like any Mark King Standard style bass, they are a full size instrument. 'Full size' has its privileges; tone, sustain and aesthetic appeal, IMO. For me, when the adrenalin kicks in during sound check, the 11.3 pounds goes away, and she is like any other bass I have owned. There is a tremendous sense of pride, as I settle in behind her, I have found, and I honestly do not notice the weight onstage. As far as reach is concerned, with a fiver, I can play the low F, G & A notes at the 6th, 8th & 10th fret position on the B string to lessen my reach.
Not trying to sell/talk you into anything, just sharing my personal experiences to alleviate any concerns about the product......... :-)

I consider myself fortunate to own a few alembics and all are a significant weight compared to other basses that I have picked up. I agree that when you hit the stage the weight ceases to become an issue. Though I can understand how this could be difficult to deal with if someone had a delicate back or bad posture.
