Hi Edwin!

Are those Maxima round-wound 24k gold-plated strings in the picture of your jam with Doug?
I prefer them to my Rotosounds - they sound more mellow and rounded to me.

Cheers

Paul I think you've been modest with us. There's a picture of Bonnie and Tweak Peaks on Edwin's website. Not bad for a humble part time bass player.

Damned ...trapped!

The story is that Edwin helped me a lot in the period (5y) that I was assembling the rig. He provided me the guitar, the speakers and the SF-2. I believe he is as happy as I am. So when I sended him the pictures he put them on his site together with far more famous bass-players than I am.

There are people coming my way saying" You must be a hell of a bass player with such a guitar and rig". After some joking I always reply: "I'm merely a bass-player with excellent taste".

That was funny, Jan. For a second I thought I double posted.
Speaking of the same people, The New Barbarians look a lot like those old barbarians the Rolling Stones.

Beautiful daughters you have, Edwin. I know your proud. Just wait until they get to this stage.

Jessica doesn't play bass but she was a music major until she switched to accounting. Her husband is a bass player though.
Best wishes for the new year.

Got a shot of Edwin's new bass before the inlay was put in:

fishless

33" scale length with Rosewood fingerboard are the start of the unusual features on this bass.

...and I thought I was the only Music major (and bass player) studying accounting. How does Jessica like accounting? I have ~2 years to go.

In my experience accounting is really bad for your bass playing!

In my experience, sound editing/engineering is really bad for your bass playing, social life, and sleeping :-)

No to mention that the jobs are disappearing...

Edwin,

To answer your question: No, there is nothing else of comparable value. I don't have any myself, but I'm pretty sure I understand - in comparison, everything else is merely "nice", at best.

But those are a couple of really cool little basses. I'm a little surprised Alembic hasn't featured anything quite like this, because it really shows just how far they'll go, and I can imagine the care, and joy, that went into making them for your daughters.

Maybe you should get them to chime in on the thread about "how old were you when you got your first Alembic?".

Dear Sam, if the time is right, the kids will come.

Dear Bob, Alembic never "shout" about there skills. If you ask, they will build you everythimg.

Also, is this the perfect woman...........?Contra-Woman

Mmmmmm ....Mica looks great from the back too!!!

Kaalkop Edwin ....I think Brother Bob has in a way (it's always "in a way") the most ultimate Alembic ever. It's not me to talk about that instrument here and Brother Bob -when the right time is there- will certainly unveil this bass-beast or talk more about her. All we can do is sit and wait for the man to speak. He waited 2 years I think so ...

Interesting photo. Would you use a French or German bow with that?

Joe
Accounting is better for one's income. I think she has two years left. It's hard to keep track because of the college credit courses she took in high school.

That photo gives new meaning to the phrase "fingering a difficult passage".
