It's Saturday and I've had waaay too much coffee, so here goes..... Alembic logo straps: Val, you've wetted the appetite. Still waiting to see what they're gonna look like and what they're gonna cost. Alembic String Club: I love the CX-3 strings on my basses. I wind up mail ordering them from an online string club because the prices are soooo good. I'd rather send that cash to San Jose. Peace, James |

James, I fully share your impatience about the straps, since I've already signed up for 2 of them. I've been promised by Mica that the pictures (which she took already) will be up sometime this coming week. The flu bug that bit almost everyone at Alembic has knocked back many of the office projects a few days. The prices will be as follows: 80$ for pre-orders (which we'll start taking as soon as the pictures are up) and 95$ once they are in stock. How many we order at first will depend on the volume of pre-orders that we get. I don' t know how feasible the string club would be, that is a decision for Susan. Valentino |

Thanks for the quick response Val. I'm fairly certain I'll be one of those pre-order types. Times 2, of course. And if ya could, stand behind Susan and keep repeating in a slow, low monotone "string club...string club...string club" Peace, James |

Ok, I'll be the fourth to pre-order one. By the way, what you guys call a thong overthere is what we call a string overhere, a G-strings that is. So I don't know if all dutch and belgium people (except for one, but he's more into nylon stockings) will join the string club. Manfred |

Manfred, I think a thong is the gent's version of the G-string. You know the Tom Waits song "Pasties and a G-string"? (Now how did we get from straps to pasties? And while we're on that G-string, we've just come full circle to Bach.) And OK, I'll bite: string club, string club, string club ... Adriaan (Message edited by Adriaan on February 10, 2004) |

Actually...(how did we get onto this I'm not sure) in Europe from my experience a thong is called a 'tanga' (at least in mediterranean nations, I believe the name as well as the product originated in Brazil). The g-string has just a string on the backside (hence the name) a 'thong' has a little tiny triangle in the back. Valentino |

Yeah, it's called "tanga" and "string tanga" here in Germany. Wouldn't it be nice to have the Logo of the featured custom Alembic of this month on it? But I'm not sure if it would be very comfortable to wear while in sterling silver ;-) Harald |

I don't know about the t-shirts. I have the crew neck sweat shirt and it's pretty good. It's just a standard cotton sweat shirt but the logo is well done. Sam |

Hooded sweat shirt is great and the logo on it is quite well done. I know nothing of the t-shirts, but I did have problems with other Alembic logo items I got from Cafe Express. |

Guess I'm the sixth in queue for the Alembic Strap. Can't wait to see it. I do hope the Alembic logo will be prominently/proudly present on the strap. Duncan |

I reckon they will fit the Schaller straplock system perfectly. These are available through any major music store.

Well ... generally it's the basses that come with straplocks (though not all of them). I never had an easier time putting on straplocks on a strap (schallers). The leather is so soft it was a breeze. Valentino |

Ummm....Val....Your last post would make one believe that you have actually had your hands on one of these straps. Do I need to get palembic to come in here and demand pictures or you gonna volunteer 'em peacefully? Peace, James |

Well, yes James. we do have a sample strap, but Mica's the one with the pictures, I've been bugging her daily, and it's not that she doesn't want to , it's just that ...there's so much to do...and we ALL got sick in the last 2 weeks. and it was pretty hectic for while...Ron, Susan, Mary, Mica & me, not to mention some of the guys in the shop as well. Ron and Susan have been hit the worst, but we're all recovering ok, I guess. I hope to be back at work on Monday Valentino |

Yep I heard! I phoned the evening I was driving to my gig to gather some encouragement and motivation talk. I met a lonely Mary on the phone who told about the flu-strike on the Alembic premises. Moder, are you -apart from testing the outgoing basses- desinfecting them too?? LOL Paul the bad one Oh ....huh ....BTW "pictures - pictures-pictures" - com'on Pauls yell with me. However ...I feel a little uncomfortable ...to yell for a ...strap. We normally are devoted guitar-picture-yellers. Maybe we should discuss this first in the group. Oh boy ...let me stop ...I'll get 2000 before I know ...THAN I'm in trouble |

Val, Thanks for staying on top of this one. Especially while riding out the flu. I want you to recognize that I'm not trying to be insensitive. Just poking a little fun at you. Having had the flu just before Christmas, I do know that there is absolutely nothing fun about that at all and I commend you for having the stamina to play along in my little thread. I'll turn down the jets and wait patiently. You get lot's of chicken soup and heal thyself. Peace, James |
