Mica & Val - any word on when you'll be shipping? Val had mentioned perhaps this week.

Thanks

Jon's in the middle of rubbing out your guitar:

rubout

Burl can sometimes be ornery, but it's worth it! I'll post another pic in a day or two when the rubout is complete, it will knock your socks off.

Jon finished the rubout, and brought it in the setup room today to start assembling all the goodies. I got this nice shot of the peghead with inlay:

peghead

The mother of pearl has a wonderful opalescence, flashing red to pink to green to blue. After setup, the guitar will rest a few days for the final testing so shipping is probably the first week of April.

Hey Mica and co - really, I have to say this looks 20x better than I could have hoped for (and I'm sure it looks even tastier in person). I'm very excited to see it!

Uhm, I'm not really sure what to say - it's incredible! It's going to be a long week waiting for it to arrive.

Mica and Valentino - did you get the proper shipping address (in Rowayton, CT)? I sent it by email a few times, and G Guitars called me on Friday to ask me to confirm it with both them and you, but I never heard back from anyone.

Grazie!

Yeah Jeff, the burl really is cool looking isn't it? I bet your bass is going to look great.

I like the color. Is that the natural color of the burl maple or was there a tint added?

Great question, Keith. I have no idea if they added some tint. The last photo up there seems to resemble the other Alembic burl maple instruments I've seen, for whatever that's worth.

This is a clear finish - no tints involved except those provided by Nature in the wood. Chip picked out some nice golden Flame Maple for the neck too.

On my monitor, the color shows a bit darker than the actual guitar.

Thanks. Even if it is a shade lighter in person I like the color of the wood. Something to keep in mind and add to the list of possibilities.

It just showed up at my office (thankfully it managed to evade Jeff!).The long day suddenly got even longer. It is really amazing!

Keith - the wood is quite dark looking, to my eyes it looks about the same as Mica's picture. It surprising how small this guitar is - I mean, I knew it was small but in pictures it looks a lot bigger!

I'll take some photos and post when I can (and when I manage to pry myself away from my amp).

Thanks all!

Justin,
Congrats. Guess the next time we'll hear from you will be in a couple of days? :-)

The color looks good with me. I like what I see in the picture and might go with the burl maple for my next custom bass.

Justin-

Be careful with that baby today. We're having some crappy cold weather up in these parts so watch out about letting it go through too quick a temperature change.

Congrats on a real beauty!

Indeed Bob - I had to adjust the truss rod and the bridge a bit when I got home, as the high E was buzzing a bit and had some dead spots. Seems much better now though. Now I need another month or so to figure out the controls, find the sweet spots, and then do it all over again with my Lonestar... I better clear the calendar!

Jeff - I'll fire you an email. I'll be tied up the next few weekends, but after that let's do some jammin'.

I was worried more about the finish cracking as a result of rapid temp change. The way Alembic coats these things over and over, I bet they're less susceptible than many other instruments, but it wouldn't be out of the question.

Glad it's home safe and sound!
