Maybe the short man is having a bad effect on the sleep cycle, indeed. Normally I get sub-second response when I email at midnight.

Been so long I don't remember. Both my "short people" are in their 20's. :-)

Got something very nice for you to see:
inlay
Keep in mind that you're still seeing rough frets. This is right after the frets went in. We love it!

I'm usually up by 6:30 and beat Erik by a good hour or so - he's what they call a "good sleeper". While it's true the phone isn't answered until 10am, we're getting work done much earlier than that, and staying much later than 4pm.

The Dove is awesome indeed. I'm "blown" away with how good it came out. I'll be dancin' on the "roof" when I get this little "dish" in my hands.

Thanks Mica,

Olie,

Looks like they swapped out your fingerboard-- this time with dark chocolate! I'd guess at least 60% cocoa.

And the inlay is sweet!

Olie:

Absolutely choice! Kicks butt on any PRS bird!

And

... are you sitting down?

... the source for that chocolate fretboard

...has to be

... Dove!!!!!

(I can hear the moans already.) lol

Bill my kids would call that an "Olie-Joke". They say I'm the king of corn. (Of course I thought was this big tall greann cat) It did make me laugh though.

I agree Dave, they did an awesome job on the Dove.

Olie

Mica, did ya catch the puns in my post above? After the story about your dad I just couldn't help it!

At first I wasn't sure what you were saying, but I finally got it, and it didn't even have to be "radioed" to me.

We call them "Ron-Jokes" over here. No puns allowed at court in Ridicule.

I promise no puns in court, I wouldn't want to "rain" on their parade.

Olie -

The dove is stunning - I can't wait to see the finished product in Dallas!

I didn't realize until I read Mike's post that we had hosted 3 gatherings in 11 months, but clearly we'll be hosting a fourth when your new arrival hits town and you can put it in the case long enough to drive across town!

Congratulations on an absolutely stunning instrument!

Two thoughts came instantly to mind when I saw your top Olie:
1. Somebody melted your bass (meant in the 'green with envy because it's such an insanely cool top' kind of way)
2. Looks like a topo map- and I want to hike that bad boy.

Looking very nice.

Thanks guys, I agree that they picked out an awesome top for this bass, (the back is pretty sweet too).

I can hear Carly Simon singing again....

Hi Mica, any chance of seeing the other inlays on the bass itself? Just a little curious as to how they look against the ebony.

Thanks,
:-)lie

Olie,

I thought we decided you had a chocolate fingerboard?

Melts in your mouth, not in your hand.

Today your bass got the first part of the rub out completed:

Any day now that tape will come off and I can take a picture of the inlays all together for you, but here's a couple I took right after they were done:

Olie,

Interesting choice of verse. Especially since everyone will mistake it for "that other verse" in John 3.

Bradley, I almost decided against this verse for that very reason, people will mistake it for 3:16.
Read it in the NLV (3:6) and it becomes a little more clear. The music that will be made with this bass will be born of the spirit within. The bass, although it will out live my body, will not last forever but the music that will come from within it will last forever.

From the New Living Translation;
John 3:6 Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.
