what are the materials used in that inlay? I love how it crosses the frets, gives a wonderful illusion of motion. Wonderful job!

I got to sing...

"Take the Moment, let it happen...
hug the moment... make it last.
hold the feeling for the moment,
or the moment will had past."

Yeah, that felt right for this bass...

Hi Mica,

I'll start making plans to come to SF and pick it up in the next few weeks. Any photos of the final, entire, complete, totally intact, ready to play, and amazingly beautiful Tonbo bass?
Cheers

David,

What does the butterfly symbolize... You may had answered this question, but its a beautiful statement what ever it means. Also, do you live in California?

thanks everyone for the nice comments. It is actually a dragonfly, and Susan designed it after a species than is common to Asia where I have lived for the past 20-odd years. 'Tonbo' is Japanese for dragonfly and a name I think sounds like a bass. Dragonflies are also very symbolic in Asian culture ... and i think Susan has captured the movement and color perfectly..

It seems like that Tonbo just took off from pond of body. The top grain seems like a ripple to me. Very impressive. Congrats from Japan!
