Maybe find a central local, like maybe Springfield MO. I'd drive 8 hrs to jam.

Given enough advanced notice I could maybe make one up there when my wife and I visit her family in
St. Charles.

St. Charles, Springfield, those both sound good. Surely there are some more Alembicians in the St Louis Area?

I should have been clearer and stated St. Charles the Fox Valley suburb of Chicago. I don't have anyone near to St. Louis.

I don't think I'd be driving to Chi-town, but I might be convinced to fly.

Put me on the list as a tentative.

I am in St Louis, Chicago would be a nice drive for me.

I have not seen that many Alembics in person and have to admit I haven't even played that many Alembics... :-)

Olie:

You might as well go. No need to hang around Dallas for basketball - the Maverick's season will soon be over. hehehehe

GO WARRIORS!

BILL, BILL, BILL...the last game was a fluke.

Don't get your hopes up. There's a reason Don isn't in Dallas anymore.

Olie:

You're absolutely right, the last game was a fluke. In fact the last 6 games between these teams have been flukes as the Warriors have won them all. Hey, we're only an 8 seed. An 8 seed has never beaten a 1 seed in a 7 game series. Of course it was pretty funny that Johnson, with his 67 win team, felt it necessary to completely change his starting line up and adjust to the Warriors game. Nellie's one smart dude. Of course, bringing it back to this thread, the denizens of Chicago (read Jordanville) are chuckling at both of us. It's gonna be a fun series - series? ahh!! another Alembic connection! LOL

I'm about 200 miles south, but might be able to make the trip if I don't have a gig or other commitment(s). It would be fun.

I live in town and might be able to suggest a place; are there any ground rules?

We seem to be bogged down a bit, several interested members but no space /date suggested yet. So keep on firing ideas and maybe we can pull it together.

Okay then I am going to attempt to narrow the options a bit to give you folks an easier target to visualize. As a guitar player I am used to giving orders! I suggest three time frames, the first being roughly eight weeks from now to allow for planning:

1. Mid December, which could be arranged around/during family shopping trips.

2. Mid January, when Xmas money or seasonal self-indulgence might prompt the display of some new loot.

3. Early February, when we will all be training to get in shape for the 2008 Alembic-Speedo calendar shoot.

As far as locations, I suggest a place that can give us a private room for security reasons with easy load-in and good access to the interstates so that the country-mice among us can skeeeedaddle at the end of the day.

Comments, emotions, or shall I continue to pretend I know what I am doing...?

I'm not positive but it looks like the David Keith on the right and the Steve Morse on the left.

When nobody is looking I pretend to really BE steve. I have to admit that I don't do a very convincing Steve Morse impression.

David,
Any or all of your three date suggestions could work for me. The rub seems to be this mythical easy access sercure site near the interstates, ideally for low or no cost. I'm not up on rehearsal spaces nearby, I've always been practicing in a band members house. I know there are listings for spaces in the Illinois Entertainer. Does any of this help?

December won't work for me.

David - I like your ideas - hopefuly this will come to fruition. It would be fabulous to have an overindulgence of Alembics in one place!

By the by - if you are The David Keith then who is the David Keith that I work with here in Milwaukee?

Yes, this secure cheap room seems to be a tricky bit...There has to be a music loving bar owner somewhere around here who would host this event. I like the Jan-Feb suggestions. Day or evening? And we need somewhere that will allow loud music right?

Go with TDK...much like TGO heh heh. And that is one schweet axe in the earlier post TDK.

Welcome Dr. Levine.

Actually Paulman, I just noticed Bill's TGO tag today and immediately decided I should be TOGO, The Other Guitar One.

I know this tread is very dated. But come on...what happened? Keavin you started this thread over a year ago. Did the event ever take place? If not, can we set a date, time and place? I will bring my guitar. I am over 6 hours from Chicago, but it is worth the drive to see multiple "Alembicats" in action.

Thanks

And now it's even MORE dated, but I too would make the trip to the Chicago area if something could be organized....anybody up for it?

I'm in the Chicago area and would certainly be interested in attending, but unfortunately I'm already overcommitted and wouldn't have the time to organize something.
