Hello guys, I would like to show you some pictures I taken in 1980 (81?) at the Montreux Jazz Festival. I did all pictures. Stanley Clarke band with Steve, Charles and Simon Philips (ROCKS,PEBBLES AND SAND). The sound of Stanley was very loud and Simon needed a wall of "protection" !!! Smile Stanley !!! The "SC" logo on the brown bass (?):

If Stanley saw these he'd be apologising for his fashion faux-pas. "Shiny pants and a headband, what was I thinking?" ;-) Graeme |

Ha! You look like a young Marcus Miller in that one Keavin. He looks just like that on the cover of Jamaica Boys. Pierre-yves, looks like your thread has been duly hijacked. Just needs a mention of beer and bikes to be complete ;-) Graeme |

Sorry Pierre-yves. Your English is so good I'd forgotten you were in Switzerland. "Hijacking" the thread means causing it to veer off topic. In the Alembic forum, this generally ends up with someone bringing up the subject of motorbikes, then the Belgian contingent will jump in to talk about beer. Graeme |

Sorry, Pierre-Yves, I don't speak French, but my favorite translation site gives "duly hijacked" as dûment détourné. It means that your thread has been diverted from its original topic. As to bikes and beer, a fair number of us are enthusiastic about beer and motorcycles, and threads have on occassion been steered into discussion of them, so someone will generally slip a mention into a hijacked thread. If you've ever seen a photo of Stanley during that period you will know why he wore that headband. His afro would rival any of the jackson 5 even with the huge side parting he had. All that hair and sweat from the stage lighting would have been very distracting. Good pics tho and nice to see that famous brown bass too. Jazzyvee |

Yes, great pics! Thanks for sharing! BTW. Wouldn't this thread better belong to the "Artists and their Alembics" section? http://alembic.com/club/messages/411/1797.html?1166369830 |

Old#12 Had been sitting on the wall at guitar center in san francisco for about a year or so,so being i hung out in the store often a sales guy asked me to take that old thing off our hands & he'd give me a deal on it so i traded my Jazz Bass along with my Ibanez artist along with $1,500 cash and the rest was History!.....Hal yes that pic was taken at the old Keasar stadium during the Junteenth summer fest 1981 |

Yeah, I know the Guitar Center you're talking about too... It's the one right across the street from the San Francisco AC Transit and Muni transfer station hub. That's where I picked up my first Alembic in 82 Haa haaa!!! Man, those were fond memories, and interesting times... I was fresh for the slaughter house of life, and in my wonder years. Peace and Love, Hal- |

How about this for the last one? The man on keys put a guitarist out of business! Deron Johnson! Wow :o) Same bass though maybe. One never gets the front on view of the neck butt for the SC inlay. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cjdk4zg7X-M&feature=related |

The first bass has PF-5 circuit and early style of horns , so it was made 1973 that I think. By the way, The factory records #14 was made for Stanly. There is nice photo on show case "Custom basses" section. I don't know Mr. Stanly used or owned it. Anyone knows about it ? are there pictures ? Eiji |
